Party Away The Winters Chill

Every year, winter comes around and it becomes a struggle every time when it comes to choosing an outfit for a night out. Jacket? No jacket? Tights? No tights? Here are some simple solutions. Save that cold-avoiding taxi cash and take some inspiration from these practical yet pretty outfits. With the dregs of winter still fading away that cold is still here, but now you’ll survive that breeze on the way to the club!

Red, gold and black is always a perfect combination. Keep warm with a long sleeve bodycon and rock it with thick black tights to stop that chill getting to your legs. And because the dress is bodycon, you can pair it with some comfortable and warm ankle boots and it will still look just as glamorous, finished with that hint of gold in the triple chain necklace.

A more casual outfit, yet dressed up with high wedges to make this the perfect winter party outfit. Hints of gold in the necklace and cuff add some needed sparkle! Layer up in glamorous shine disco pants, and a crop top under a classic jumper with a twist of furry texture. Stay even warmer by sneakily layering a few pairs of tights under the disco pants too…

Going to a club with a cloakroom and got that spare £1? In that case, sparkle like a snowflake in a white lace dress under this season’s key piece, the boyfriend coat. Stay monochrome with black shoes. These two texture wedges give the perfect point of interest to this outfit, the ankle straps softening the height so you don’t look too garish! Finish it all off with a simple gold chain and red lipstick.

Kate Moss; The new body of St. Tropez.

“St. Tropez do it so well that you do look natural”

Britain’s fashion icon Kate Moss is now the face (and perfectly tanned body) of St. Tropez, with her nude photo-shoot showing nothing but elegance and beauty, apart from her particularly streak free tan. With the self tanning business having been established back in 1996, the skin finishing products have been nothing but brilliance for men and women, leaving “no reason to go around with that pasty pallor anymore” in the words of Moss herself. With the shoot in particular using St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse, the skin you see above exemplifies the easily acquirable tan which St. Tropez are renowned for.
With this being St. Tropez first ever global advertising campaign, it is clear that there was no one but Moss for the job.

Say it with a shirt.

Ever tried choosing between warmth and appearance? It’s a tough one, which is why despite that it’s already been touched here on Green Eyes, we’ve found the secret for you…

Perfecting the warm look can be difficult, but we’ve found the easiest way to tackle it is be simplistic, but say it with a statement shirts. With bold shirts being seen all over SS13 collections the shirt can be your ultimate weapon; wether its oversizing, prints, or texture, throw on jeans, leather and a scarf and the spring weather is nothing.

1) This Diesel shirt from Asos transcends oversizing and print, with a slouchy size making any frame look smaller and the print becoming the key focus piece in any outfit.

2) Another print shirt, the sheer material makes this piece perfect for day or night, be brave and go shirt-and-bra for the bar, or layer with a stringshirt underneath for the chill of the daytime.

Be The Queen Of Autumn Chic.

With autumn leaving behind dreggs of floral prints and sunglasses, many of us are mourning our summer dresses and starting to wear those denim jeams a little too much, but transforming from summer may not be as hard as you think. But ‘how could I stay chic AND warm?’ I may hear you ask…my answer to you: The circle skirt. Wardrobe essential for AW12, a piece that is perfect for the classic look, the vintage look, the cutesy look; daywear, nightwear, workwear, these skirts can be woven into the key piece of any outfit or occasion.

1) Go for a black skirt if you know it’ll be that piece you love and never want to take off; you can wear with simple black wedges and a dark printed top for that gothis, dark and elusive element, or go with a bold, bright, block colour shirt and bag to boast confidence despite the gloomy weather.

2) A wine coloured crotchet skirt matched with a denim button up and cute wedges creates the foundation of the perfect vintage look, match with a vintage black bowler or summer hat, oversized gold earrings with an under-collar necklace to channel the past while capturing contemporary glamour.

3) The dip-dye denim skirt from Nasty Gal strikes a bold edge, perfect with a black crop-top and thick gold chain with creepers for that modern-edgy feel, and then just switch to a pair of chunky heels (Jefferey Campbell Lita’s anyone?) to tranform from perfect daywear to the life of the party stunner.

4) Channel Chanel with this nude skirt, on sale in Matalan at just £8 – throw over a grey jumper and tuck in the front, some mid-height brogue heels in a dark grey and complete with simple black bangles and a low hanging bold necklace piece to look classic chic wherever you go.

5) Topshop’s ode to summer, yet perfectly wearable this autumn – darker floral print tranferring a typical sunshine piece into a slight ray into the gloomy cloud ridden weather we’re unfortunate enough to suffer; and for the brave clash with the Topshop daisy blousen for a bold print style.

6) Taking a simple black wedge and snazzing them up with a quilted look heel and small studs to give that edge to a cute shoe, perfect with almost any circle skirt, above and existant.

7) Oversized daisy shirt, throw on and tuck in the front, simple as that.

CARNIVAL FIESTA.

To those not at Reading and Leeds this weekend, you may be heading to Notting Hill Carnival, a huge event bursting with style influences; and if you’re not into the huge elaborate decorative pieces often seen there, here we’ll show you how to get that carnival look without going over-the-top.

Jewellery is a big-impact method of getting a bold aspect into an outfit, with statement jewellery always bang on trend and just a clip away from adding that wow factor to your day. With high street store New Look currently selling jewellery 2 for the price of 1, the jewellery ranges from simple stud earrings to the statement pieces included in the carnival style set, oversized earrings and necklaces going together to create a boom on the carnival streets.

Despite the typically forecasted rain, denim shorts with D.I.Y look grunge hints give a floral and feminine bralet added attitude – and then the outfit can go either way! Pair this with hidden heel high tops for the more street style wear (a little more suitable for carnival too) or dress it up by continuing the cutesy appeal with floral wedges; extra height and feminity.

Springtime favourites.

So, despite the rainy weather propping up here and there in England, I do believe that it is indeed now springtime. With London fashion week just gone, and my obsession with Topshop, I’ve found my favourite bits and bobs that are (sort of) neccesary in your springtime wardrobe.

1. Lipstick in Powder Room: Pastel shade lips were a hit on the catwalk, and the most wearable make-up trend this spring (that is if you don’t fancy wearing blue or orange lips…). With this topshop lipstick pencil fitting snuggly in any purse, this is the perfect lipstick for day to day wear.

2. Pink invert Flippy Skirt: Again from Topshop, this skirt can be worn day or night, office or party. A versatile piece in the hot-trend pastel, and it won’t break the band at £32.

3. Cateye Glasses: Retro working its way into the trend this season with the cateye glasses, New Look do the perfect pair with tinted lenses and tortoiseshell frames.

4. Colour Block Wedges: We’ve had our eyes on these for a while, and despite colour blocking being a little off trend, the coral shades bring it back on trend.

5. Pop Fabric Cigarette Trousers: Cigarette trousers will always be fabulous, and this light shade makes them perfect for a spring day, and the versatility means that you could wear this with floral prints or monochomatic to create a range of different outfits, but one thing is for sure, these cigarette trousers are going to be purchased by all of us.

6. Cutout Shoulder Blouse: Cutout shoulders really made a statement at fashion week, and you can purchase this wonderful simple blouse to get that style yourself. A simple rendition of the classic white blouse, and obviously at Topshop

7. Round Sunglasses: Whenever the sun comes up, where ecstatic that we can bring out our lennon-glasses again.

Firstly, the least elusive Topshop; but one small collection currently only stocked in the Oxford Circus store, The Ragged Priest. Reworking vintage with candy-pastel dyes and bold studs, with key peices being a blue and pink studded denim shirt, stud cuffed boots and studded denim shorts: you can check out the online site here if you can’t make it to the Oxford Circus.

Next up head to Eastcastle Street, just minutes away from Topshop, and can be reached via a detour leading to the off-street Starbucks or McDonalds for a less packed latte or mocha!

With vintage inspired dresses, shoes, accesories etc, a vintage rail and an absolutely fabulous decor; Fever is a must-go place. Fitting rooms with used, old house front doors and wooden display cases and tables to show off the brilliant jewellewry and accesories: this is one of our by-far favorite retail store in Oxford Circus.

How to shop thrift stores.

So, charity shops. Some of you may be cringing reading those words, but this post is to change your mind. As a successful charity shopper some days there’s nothing like looking through the rails and finding the most beautiful item of clothing in your hands, for £2.50. Shoes, bags, scarves, blouses, skirts, belts…etc, the list of charity shop stock is endless, and with crazy prices, I ensure once you go once you’ll be heading to those charity shops every weekend instead of the shopping centre. And it will seriously increase the amount of cash left in your purse after a shopping spree. And to those who are STILL cringing at the idea of wearing secondhand clothes, I was once in that position until I was dragged into one, and ever since…

And finally, just to convince you further that this will be the best choice you make during the whole 2012, I’ve raided Lookbook for charity shop and thrift store spends, and heres a gallery of the best outfits featuring (and sometimes entirely consisting of) charity shop items…have a look!

Rock ‘n’ roll ladies!

So I’ve seen alot of leather around, leather look leggings, leather boots, leather jackets, it’s all very Grease and fifties, and with stars like Alex Turner bringing the greaser look back, here’s the ultimate guide to the glam rock and roll look.

FIRST OF ALL. 

The most important: The biker jacket. With studded ones, brown ones, real leather, faux leather, it may be very hard to choose, so I’ve done it for you. Here are the best leather jackets around at the moment:

One of the most versatile wardrobes must haves, if you haven’t got one, click the picture and buy buy buy. With the cheapest just £29.99, and the more costworthy of the quartet being £180, choose wisely. You can wear it with a light dress for a more feminine look, or be brave and go more gothic influence and finish with a black maxi skirt, be sure to experiment.

Not feeling a biker jacket? Well then, go straight to American Apparel and pick up some black disco pants, a perfect way to interpret rock chick into your style without going overboard!

Or maybe you just want to stick to the shoes, well River Island chelsea boots are perfect for the occasion –  or even less leather, if you really want a minute input, try this Zara contrast shirt  for a bit of leather glam, without the leather.

But how to wear the leather can be unforgivably mistaken. I have seen someone bop around wearing leather leggings, a biker jacket, AND leather boots. And this is somethign you should always shy away from. Try wearing your jacket with some black jeans and red chelsea boots, or a white shirt and black leggings. And accesorizing? A vibrant colour bag can look great with this style, bright red is my favourite, add some silver bracelets and you’re done! Now just to learn how to play guitar…

Rising star of 2012, the foul mouthed Azealia Banks sure has an interesting style. Topping NME’s cool list last week, I was drawn to look into her clothing choices-

Aged just 20, her videos and pictures show her in many different looking outfits, and shes got a versatile style reminding me of Misha B from the X-factor, but less unnecessarily extravagant.

So, check this style!

Three totally different looks from this diva, she works a casual look of jumpers and shorts, then the image featuring bold colours and text which seems to be 80’s inspired. With the latter look being a popular choice for jumpers, this look is easy to try – just pop to your nearest TopShop, or even Primark, and pick yourself up a jumper and some bright leggings. And if you really want to complete the Azealia look, check out Camden Markets or eBay for some creepers!
